Donate to the Mozilla Foundation
23-Dec, 2007
Feeling generous this holiday season? Feeling guilty for using great, free software, like the Mac-only web browser, Camino, or the free, all-in-one, Internet suite, SeaMonkey? Now is your chance to give back to the Mozilla Foundation and support the hard-working volunteers and programmers that put countless hours into these open-source projects.
The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit public benefit software development organization, is accepting donations. The Mozilla Foundation is different from its wholly owned subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation, the latter of which is responsible for Mozilla Firefox. Donations to the foundation are tax deductible for U.S. citizens and you can choose to give any amount you wish. Please consider donating and helping out these wonderful projects and volunteers that provide such great, free software. Check out the donation FAQ for more information.
FYI: The Mozilla Foundation announced on July 26, 2007, that Thunderbird, the stand-alone e-mail client, would be developed by an independent organization, similar to SeaMonkey, and given the boot, because the Mozilla Corporation (a subsidiary of the foundation) is only focusing on Firefox development. Interesting. The Mozilla Corporation’s bread-winner, Firefox, receives most of its income from the Google and Amazon search box displayed in the top right corner of the browser. Feel free to read more about Mozilla’s reorginazation.
